Project Overview

SPAM® Museum employs Planar displays to convey the canned meat’s iconic story

Launched in 1937 by Hormel Foods, SPAM® is loved across the world for its quirky name, shelf stability and flavor. The canned meat is so ubiquitous in pop culture that Hormel Foods in 1991 established a SPAM brand-themed museum in Austin, Minnesota, home to the company’s headquarters. When the museum was updated to a reimagined, 14,000-square-foot venue, Planar displays technologies were deployed to provide an educational experience about the SPAM brand story, its global appreciation and how SPAM® products are made.

The displays include Planar® Helium™ Series 27-inch touch screen monitors, Planar® PL Series 24-inch monitors and Planar® Simplicity™ Series 32-inch LCD displays. The interactive touch screens and displays are used throughout the museum exhibits and provide a medium for storytelling and facilitating participation among guests.
