The Channel Tunnel is a 50 km rail tunnel that links Kent, in the UK, to Coquelles, in northern France beneath the Channel. In recent years, Europe’s evolving migrant crisis has led to heightened security challenges at the French Terminal in Coquelles, as increasingly more migrants have tried to enter the Channel in an attempt to illegally cross into the UK.
To control migrant intrusions on its sites and improve security in response to terror threats, Eurotunnel—which manages and operates the Channel Tunnel—introduced a new Security Control Centre at the French terminal in Coquelles. Dubbed ‘Fortress Coquelles,’ the new control facility features high tech equipment and an advanced security system that includes a 20sqm Planar® TWA Series LED video wall. The Planar TWA Series video wall features an ultra-fine pixel pitch of 1.8mm in a 7x3 configuration (seven-wide-by-three-high).
