Planar is proud to announce product awards for the new Planar® DirectLight® Essential Series and Planar® DirectLight® Slim Series fine pitch LED video wall lines. The state-of-the-art LED video wall solutions launched earlier this year were recognized by Sound & Video Contractor and Systems Contractor News at InfoComm 2025, celebrating each product’s innovativeness in AV.

“So far 2025 has been a year filled with innovating and launching several cutting-edge LED platforms. It was incredibly exciting to wow this year’s InfoComm attendees with our latest and greatest LED additions,” said Robert Detwiler, senior director of product management at Planar. “The new Planar DirectLight Essential Series and Planar DirectLight Slim Series represent our dedication to upleveling performance and support for a broader set of applications. It’s a privilege to have not one, but two solutions recognized as products that are raising the bar for the ProAV industry.”

The new Planar DirectLight Essential Series was named a 2025 Best of Show InfoComm 2025 winner by Sound & Video Contractor, celebrating the solution as one of the best products in professional AV. Future’s Best of Show Awards are evaluated by a panel of engineers and industry experts, selecting products based on innovation, feature set, perceived value and application in serving the industry.

The Planar DirectLight Slim Series was presented with a 2025 Installation Product Award from Systems Contractor News, honoring the fine pixel pitch LED video wall line as one of the Most Innovative Video Displays available today. The award program rewards and highlights the most innovative commercial AV products of 2024 and early 2025. This year’s winners were celebrated at an awards ceremony in Orlando at InfoComm 2025.

Planar DirectLight Essential Series introduces the first Chip-on-Board (COB) LED display in the Planar® DirectLight® product portfolio. Ideal for budget-conscious customers who require high-quality imagery, the new solution offers high pixel density, energy efficiency and exceptional durability to support an array of high-traffic, indoor environments with abundant ambient light. The 27-inch cabinets are available in 0.7, 0.9, 1.2 and 1.5 millimeter pixel pitches and deliver deeper blacks and sharper visuals with a 30,000:1 contrast ratio and high refresh rate of 3,840Hz. In addition to popular Planar® DirectLight® Essential Complete display configurations, customers benefit from a proprietary driver integrated circuit (IC) specially built to mitigate issues related to brightness and color uniformity.

Planar DirectLight Slim Series is designed to accommodate curved and space-constrained applications, featuring an ultra-thin, narrow width form factor. The new fine pixel pitch MicroLED video wall display offers an installation depth of less than two inches, making it ideal for tightly curved video walls with the solution’s reduced width delivering minimal colorshift compared to other LED displays. The series is also well-suited for flat video walls in tight spaces as a result of its minimum depth and front serviceability. Models are available in pixel pitches ranging from 0.9 to 1.8 millimeters with a maximum brightness of 1,600 nits and a unique 4:9 aspect ratio.
