Commercial Business Unit

Planar sells desktop LCD monitors, touchscreen monitors, business projectors and network displays (powered by Wyse), through IT resellers, primarily in the United States. The business operates in a business to business model, where key relationships are formed with Asian suppliers who work with Planar to design and manufacture products to our specifications, using the Planar brand which are then sold to the IT reseller channel, and ultimately purchased by various business users.

Control Room and Digital Signage Business Unit

Planar develops direct-view and rear-projection displays for mission critical locations such as control rooms, command centers and other important locations where image experience is critical. With a wide range of products, the CSBU enables customers worldwide to achieve the large-scale information display goals. Planar’s display systems for retail environments are the other half of this business unit, which includes solutions for point of sale, point of purchase, kiosk integration and dynamic signage applications.

Home Theater Business Unit

Planar sells innovative products for the high-end home theater enthusiast including high-performance home theater projection systems, large-format thin displays, and unique front-projection screens. This business goes to market under three uniquely positioned brands, Runco, Vidikron, and Planar home theater products. Runco and Vidikron products are sold directly to custom home installation dealers, primarily in the United States; Planar products are distributed through specialty home theater integrators in countries throughout North America, Europe, Australia and Asia.

Industrial Business Unit

Planar develops both standard and custom displays for a wide range of applications that include kiosks, medical, banking, ticketing, point of sale, information display, industrial control systems, transportation and handheld devices. Our customers rely on our unsurpassed expertise in the development of cost effective displays to meet extraordinary performance requirements such as extreme temperatures, durability, vandal proofing and sunlight readability.

Medical Business Unit

Planar develops displays and products specifically designed for medical imaging, patient monitoring and patient care. Our products include radiological and medical-grade flat-panel displays, point-of-care workstations, monitoring and calibration software, analog display controllers and software development toolkits.
