Canal+Group is a subscription television provider serving France, and also more than 40 countries worldwide through its Canal+Overseas international broadcasting network. Headquartered in the Paris suburb of Issy-les-Moulineax, Canal+ has been a pioneer in subscription cable television, helping to establish and expand high definition broadcasting in Europe, the Middle East, parts of Africa and Asia. The innovation of Canal+ is reflected in its continuing support for emerging broadcast standards, and for its embrace of technology in its broadcast studios. In 2012, Canal+ brought video wall technology into its operations, selecting as its primary installation, an array of Planar’s Clarity™ Matrix MX46 and MX55 displays for use on the sets of its news programs. These walls are positioned behind the news anchors and are used to carry live and pre-programmed video as well as other visual content supporting each news story that is aired. The installed configurations include Clarity Matrix MX46 and MX55 walls in three-by-one (3 X1), three-by-two (3 x 2) and three-by-three (3 x 3) arrays on sets from which several different news and news magazine shows are broadcast. Also, other programs are supported by on-set MX46 and MX55 walls in five-by-four (5 x 4) and five-by-five (5 x 5) configurations, and Planar M-Series and EP-Series™ displays that are used by control room operators.
