Planar, a Leyard company, Powers the Photo Booth Experience at TEDxPortland

April 9th will bring the magic of TED once again to Planar’s backyard in Portland, Oregon.  And Planar’s cutting edge technology, including the Planar® UltraRes™ and Planar® LookThru™ OLED transparent display will be featured as part of a new photo experience created for the guests at this year’s event.

"We are excited to partner with Planar to activate an interactive photo booth experience at TEDxPortland 2016,” said David Rae, Chief Curator & Executive Producer, TEDxPortland. “Their technology and products will help connect with our attendees. We are forever grateful and humbled by their innovation and support.”

Thousands of guests at TEDxPortland will have the opportunity to commemorate the day with a photo that they can share on social media.  The theme of this event is “Wonderland,” and themes of wonder, discovery, innovation, and inspiration will abound.

TED, which has become an online phenomenon, was born in 1984 out of Richard Saul Wurman's observation about the powerful convergence among three fields which were emerging in the early 1980’s: technology, entertainment and design. The first TED included a demo of the compact disc, the e-book, and cutting-edge 3D graphics from Lucasfilm, while mathematician Benoit Mandelbrot demonstrated how to map coastlines using his developing theory of fractal geometry.  The line-up has continued to bring together far-ranging academic and scientific inquiry with popular culture and personal development topics.

TEDx was created as an extension of the TED Conferences that promote “ideas worth spreading.” These are independently organized events that have since been organized in over 98 countries.  With millions of views a month, the TED and TEDx talks online have inspired people all around the world to come together, share, and celebrate our creativity, compassion, innovation, and grace. TEDx offers a unique platform for building local community and celebrating local talent.
